Ideal preparation for the Whistler Cup

Whistler Cup Background

THE WHISTLER CUP is an international ski event organized by the Whistler Ski Club and hosted by Whistler-Blackcomb. Having completed its 16th year, Whistler Cup has grown to become one of the largest and most important ski races in North America, and internationally, for athletes aged 11 – 14 years.

It is held under the auspice of FIS, the international governing body for alpine skiing. With over 390 young athletes from more than 21 countries, Whistler Cup brings together children from many different cultures, from around the world.

With the 2010 Olympics fast approaching, Whistler Cup is the must attend race for athletes and sponsors not only in the US and Canada, but around the world. For many of our young representative athletes, this is the first opportunity they have to meet and ski with the world’s best.

The 17th edition of the Whistler Cup will be held April 09, 10 and 11 2009.

Insurance

Travel, Accident and medical insurance are mandatory requirements to train with an "International Racer" tour program.

International competition insurance that covers activities such as racing and race training under the supervision of an instructor is also mandatory to participate in an "International Racer" camps. "International Racer" staff will request proof of these items prior to training. Training may be denied if sufficient insurance has not been purchased. Please ask your own national ski racing body what insurance cover packages they recommend for international/domestic racing/training

* International racer is covered by CSCF organized insurance cover for public liability and professional indemnity for the camp period.

Enrolment Policies

The Whistler Cup race camp has a limited number of openings and fill up quickly, so first come, first served. We suggest you contact us ASAP to nominate your interest. We have developed over time the following necessary policies for camp enrolment.

[1] Mandatory. A signed enrolment form and a deposit of $1000.00 CAD is required to request a place in our camps. We cannot register your place until these are received.

[2] The balance of the camp payment must be paid at a minimum 30 days prior to camp starting to secure your place.

[3] First paid first secured, however, full 6 week participants get place preference over shorter term athletes.

[4] If the camp has already filled you may request entry onto the programs waiting list. A place will come available if an athlete cancels their place or we get sufficient numbers to create a new group.

[5] International Racer, reserves the right to cancel a training camp based on insufficient numbers for participation. Booked participants will be notified of cancellation 30 days prior to the start of the affected block. International Racer, reserves the right to vary group numbers when necessary, though maintains a policy to keep numbers at (LE 8:1) in most conditions.

[6] Airport pickup and delivery are set days only, if is not possible for you to get a flight arriving in the morning on set days, you should arrive on the day before. We are not always able to accommodate non-standard pickups, athletes with this dilemma may be directed to a bus service. Non-standard pickup/delivery requests will be costed and scheduled separate to the advertised camp fee.

* Cancellations are subject to Cancellation fees
